Tron DAO has announced a major switch in its oracle provider, replacing WinkLink with Chainlink Data Feeds to enhance the accuracy and reliability of data for its decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. This move will impact DeFi applications like JustLend and JustStable, which collectively hold over $6.5 billion in total value locked (TVL).
Chainlink Integration to Drive Tron’s DeFi Expansion
The decision to integrate Chainlink marks Tron’s entry into the Chainlink Scale program, which aims to accelerate ecosystem adoption and growth. Under this program, Tron DAO will initially subsidize certain operational costs for Chainlink’s oracle networks, such as gas fees. Over time, these expenses are expected to transition to user fees within decentralized applications (DApps), enabling a more sustainable model.
Thodoris Karakostas, Head of Blockchain Partnerships at Chainlink Labs, emphasized that Chainlink’s data feeds will empower Tron developers to build advanced DeFi applications and support a decentralized internet. Tron DAO’s community representative, Sam Elfarra, echoed this sentiment, noting that joining the Chainlink Scale program will fuel Tron’s DeFi expansion.
Justin Sun’s Vision for Chainlink and Tron-Based Stablecoins
Tron founder Justin Sun announced the integration at Chainlink’s SmartCon event, highlighting that the collaboration will create new opportunities for Chainlink, Tron-based stablecoins, and real-world assets (RWA). This shift not only strengthens Tron’s infrastructure but also aligns with Sun’s broader vision for a robust and scalable DeFi ecosystem.
