Indian content aggregator and distributor Shemaroo Entertainment has teamed up with Polygon Labs to launch Virtasy.io, a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace enabled by Seracle’s Web3.0 infrastructure. The platform aims to provide a safe and secure environment for the purchase and sale of NFTs backed by intellectual property-related to entertainment.

Bringing Bollywood to the Metaverse
At launch, Virtasy’s marketplace will list NFTs related to Bollywood films, such as movie clips, images, and 3D avatars. Owners of these NFTs will be able to bring their favorite Bollywood characters into the metaverse and build a collection of their own precious moments. The community-centric platform allows users to become collectors and earn monetary rewards while engaging with others.
Shemaroo CEO Hiren Gada said that the launch of Virtasy.io is a major step in the company’s roadmap for the entertainment industry in the age of Web 3.0. By leveraging Polygon’s innovative solutions, Shemaroo aims to bring cutting-edge technology to the vast popularity of Bollywood movies and reach fans worldwide.
Polygon Studios VP Kelly DiGregorio said that Polygon Labs is committed to transforming the NFT space and making it easily accessible to the entertainment and art sectors in India. The partnership with Shemaroo, a name synonymous with Bollywood, will connect NFTs to a loyal and enthusiastic audience.
Efficient and Fast Transactions with Polygon
By leveraging Polygon’s next-gen scaling platform, Shemaroo will offer its users access to cost-efficient and lightning-fast transactions while retaining Ethereum’s security and decentralization. The Polygon network is carbon-neutral and has plans to become fully carbon-negative in the near future.
Shemaroo has partnered with established industry players, including Seracle, to bring Virtasy.io to the public. The platform will initially be open to the public during an early access period, and users can register on the website with their email to stay updated on the launch of NFT minting.
