A new reality show, “The Next Crypto Gem,” is gearing up for its debut on September 7, simultaneously airing in 56 countries. This unique show, produced by the Web3 incubator The Hourglass Collective, aims to bridge the gap between crypto and mainstream entertainment.
The Crypto Equivalent of Shark Tank
Much like the popular TV show “Shark Tank,” contestants on “The Next Crypto Gem” will compete in challenges for a chance to win a substantial prize of approximately $150,000. The judging panel comprises notable crypto influencers, including Layah Heilpern, George Tung, and Brian D. Evans. Additionally, special guest appearances will feature original “Shark Tank” shark Kevin Harrington, renowned poker player Tom Dwan, and the well-known YouTuber Ben Armstrong, also known as ‘BitBoy Crypto.’
Educational Challenges and “The Big Short” Moments
The debut episode’s challenge will focus on individuals who are “the least likely to understand crypto and the most unfriendly to crypto.” Contestants will be divided into four teams, tasked with explaining the fundamentals of blockchain to these “no coiners.” Throughout the show, educational elements will be emphasized, with moments reminiscent of “The Big Short,” where judges break down complex crypto jargon.
Bringing Crypto to the Mainstream
Jett Tang, Executive Producer of “The Next Crypto Gem,” expressed the show’s core mission: introducing crypto to a mainstream audience for the first time. The program promises teamwork, rivalry, larger-than-life characters, and innovative ideas.
The show will be broadcast on Insight TV, accessible through 178 platforms in over 55 countries and available in more than 12 languages. Confirmed platforms include Amazon Prime, PlutoTV, Samsung TV, and Vizio LG.
