PayPal partners with MetaMask to support external wallets

PayPal partners with MetaMask to integrate new crypto services. This new partnership marks a significant milestone in the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency, as PayPal has provided its users with the ability to make online payments securely and easily.

MetaMask is the first Web3 platform to partner with PayPal to facilitate cryptocurrency purchases. All U.S. users except those in Hawaii will have access to the service in the coming weeks, with ConsenSys planning to roll it out nationwide in the coming weeks.

“This integration with PayPal will allow our U.S. users to not just buy crypto seamlessly through MetaMask, but also to easily explore the Web3 ecosystem,” said Lorenzo Santos, product manager for MetaMask.

In May of this year, PayPal announced plans to expand their services to allow users to move their crypto into third-party wallets. PayPal first began offering the ability to purchase Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin in 2020. This move is seen as a major step forward in the adoption of digital currencies and other forms of digital payments.
