Pakistan’s First Metaverse Classes Launched by ITU Lahore

The Information Technology University of Lahore, in collaboration with the University of Denmark, has taken a pioneering step by launching Pakistan’s first metaverse-based virtual reality classes. This innovative approach aims to enhance the traditional learning experience by leveraging virtual reality headsets and motion tracking technology.

According to Samaa TV, this initiative is designed to replicate the conventional classroom setting in a virtual environment, thereby offering a unique and immersive educational experience. Professor Ibrahim Ghaznavi, head of the computer sciences department at ITU Lahore, expressed optimism about the potential of this technology to significantly improve students’ academic skills.

The transition to metaverse classes represents a significant evolution from the online courses introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, marking an important milestone in the adoption of virtual reality in education.
