Decentralized finance (DeFi) platform Infinex is preparing to expand its token offerings and introduce a major platform upgrade in early 2025. At Near’s Redacted conference in Bangkok, Thailand, Infinex founder Kain Warwick announced that the platform will list the top 500 crypto assets and release its enhanced version, Infinex v2, designed to improve integration speeds and scalability.
Expanding Token Support to the Top 500
Currently, Infinex supports around 100 tokens, including SPL (Solana Program Library) tokens, ERC-20 tokens, and NFTs. According to Warwick, the DeFi platform has submitted a governance proposal to increase token support fivefold, covering the top 500 assets on popular platforms like CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap. This expansion will incorporate tokens from major ecosystems, including Solana, Ethereum, and Ethereum layer-2 solutions.
Warwick emphasized that while the platform is pushing for wider token coverage, tokens from older chains such as Bitcoin and Litecoin may require additional time for integration due to technical complexities.
Infinex v2: Faster Integrations and Improved User Experience
Alongside expanding its token offerings, Infinex is set to launch an upgraded platform, v2, early next year. Warwick highlighted that the new version will address current integration speed limitations by streamlining the on-chain code requirements, enabling faster and more flexible connections to DeFi contracts.
Infinex v2 will feature a dual-wallet system to balance security and flexibility. Users will have access to a highly secure “Vault” for storing funds and a “hot wallet” that can interact with various DeFi contracts. According to Warwick, this setup keeps users’ assets safe in the vault and only transfers them temporarily to the hot wallet when a trade or transaction is initiated.
With this new architecture, Infinex expects to reduce the integration timeline from months to just weeks, facilitating quicker access to popular NFT marketplaces like OpenSea and Blur.
Anticipated Release in Early 2025
While a specific release date for Infinex v2 has not been announced, Warwick confirmed that the platform’s enhanced version is scheduled to launch in early 2025, promising greater scalability and efficiency for users.
