Record-Breaking Transaction Volume
The layer-1 blockchain platform Aptos, developed by former Facebook employees, has reached a significant milestone by surpassing previous transaction records. On May 25, Aptos recorded an unprecedented 115.4 million transactions in a single day, far exceeding Solana’s 31.7 million transactions on the same day. This surge set a new benchmark, outstripping the previous record of over 65 million transactions held by the Sui Network by more than 50%.
Surge Driven by Tapos Cat Game
The recent surge in activity on Aptos can be attributed to the launch of Tapos Cat, a tap-to-earn game that has quickly gained popularity. Within its first day on the mainnet, Tapos Cat processed an impressive 10 million transactions, significantly contributing to the overall increase in platform activity. In the game, users earn $HEART tokens by ‘tickling’ a virtual cat, with its structure facilitating multiple transactions. To encourage participation, the game offers a gas-fee-free experience for the first 72 hours.
High Transaction Speed and Efficiency
According to Aptoscan, the blockchain’s user transactions per second (TPS) also reached an all-time high of 32,000 on the same day. This substantial increase in activity highlights the growing adoption and momentum within the Aptos ecosystem. Despite the high volume of transactions, Aptos has maintained consistent gas fees and success rates, thanks to its Aggregator feature, which enables the simultaneous processing of multiple transactions, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Mixed Reactions to Tapos Cat
Despite the impressive metrics, some industry experts have questioned the longevity and practical utility of Tapos Cat. The CEO of Helius Labs expressed skepticism, suggesting that the game’s focus on click-and-buy interactions might artificially inflate metrics rather than genuinely serve user needs. However, Aptos supporters argue that Tapos Cat is a crucial engineering project that demonstrates the network’s robustness and scalability, paving the way for future developments.
Commitment to Growth and Development
Aptos Labs remains dedicated to its mission of enabling billions of people to access decentralized assets. On May 9, the Aptos Labs team introduced new global advisers, including David Lawee, former vice president of corporate development at Google. Additionally, in November 2023, Aptos Labs and Atomrigs Lab announced plans to launch a Web3 wallet service, T Wallet, in partnership with South Korean telecommunications operator SK Telecom (SKT).
